World Championship in Dubai: Czyz bags three gold medals

Wojtek Czyz once again swept the field at the IWAS World Games in Dubai at the beginning of December, winning three gold medals in the 100m (12.24 s.) and 200m (26.91 s.) sprints and in the broad jump (6.22 meters). Congratulations!

Once again, prosthetic components developed by ISATEC made a key contribution to this athletic success, and have now helped to pave the way for Czyz to compete in the 2012 Paralympics in London. This milestone too demands careful preparation. A major effort is currently underway to evolve the prosthetic device for the Paralympics. To this end, ISATEC is developing a new adapter for tasting a range of parameter variations. Materials like those used in the AMS space experiment (see News, 25 May 2011), are also being utilized here. Initial measurements at the German Sport University Cologne (DSHS) are already showing great promise; detailed evaluations and the thorough implementation of further improvements in the prosthetic device will follow. “Wow, all that stress really paid off!!” said Wojtek Czyz in a personal greeting to ISATEC, “Once again, thanks so much for all your support!!!” For many years now, ISATEC’s developments have been supporting this young man’s athletic ambitions – as his team in the background you can bet we’ll keep our fingers crossed for him!
