Metal Hydride Compressor ––– HYDAC and ISATEC Pressurize

The development of a test system for a metal hydride compressor in a 20-foot container has been completed.

A promising approach for the compression of gaseous hydrogen is the metal hydride compressor.  This is based on the temperature and pressure-dependent adsorption or desorption of hydrogen on metals. In a multi-stage process, the pressure can be gradually increased without movable parts.

HYDAC und ISATEC have developed a solution for a 20-foot container that contains all the components for compressing the hydrogen to up to 400 bar. 
The optimum process control parameters are researched by the end customer in trial operation. 
This then forms the basis for the development of commercial products. The system will be installed in the first quarter of 2025.
