Decay of a Higgs-Particle Proven

At CERN the decay of a Higgs-particle was proven for the first time ever

As the RWTH Aachen University reports in their news <link http: www.rwth-aachen.de go id riey external-link-new-window externen link in neuem>www.rwth-aachen.de/go/id/riey at CERN for the first time ever the decay of a Higgs-particle was proven. This project kept us busy many years ago and now pleases us with further success.
The endcap of the CMS particle detector was developed and build at the RWTH Aachen University and ISATEC contributes with an active support: the mechanical properties of this subdetector were calculated and optimized by us. The figure shows as an example minimal elastic deformations of a few micrometers during handling operations just before mounting at CERN.
ISATEC congratulates the CMS-Team of CERN and of the RWTH for this additional milestone.
