Cooling of electric motors

ISATEC has carried out numerous simulations for the cooling of electric motors, both air-cooled and water-cooled.

To simulate temperatures in the coils of the electric motor, the transverse thermal conductivity is a decisive parameter. To date, estimates were made based on literature. More precise values can be derived by comparing the heat conduction of a geometry resolving the winding structure with that of a larger-scale simulation in which these structures are not resolved. Through close cooperation with the sister company ENGIRO, extensive experience in this field has been gathered and also verified by validation measurements.
