Fatigue life calculation: Rail vehicles

One of our core competencies is assessment of the fatigue limit on the basis of innovative computation models. ISATEC has been computing and optimizing bogies for trains used in public transportation since 1996. Rail vehicle technology is now a firmly establish part of our company’s operations. In addition to numerous bodies for driven and non-driven axles on passenger trains, our field of activity also includes complete drive systems, transmission components and vehicle chassis. 

As an independent development partner, we orient ourselves consistently on the requirements of our clients with respect to design and drive dynamics. We are committed to efficient working methods and goal-oriented
results. The bodies we design stand out by virtue of their enhanced load-bearing capacity, reduced mass and optimized production processes. We used the ISASEP© program for the dimensioning according to the fatigue limit. 

It goes without saying that we work in direct contact with manufacturing plants as well as the Federal Railway Agency – which is responsible for product approval. ISATEC is certified in compliance with DIN-EN 15085 (formerly DIN 6700). 


Today, we also develop heavy-duty bogies for freight trains. This poses a unique challenge: the bogie must be sufficiently compatible to permit the conversion of existing vehicles from double-axle to triple-axle bogies. Consequently, the vehicles are suitable not only for intra-plant transport but also for travel on public rails, as they meet the relevant railroad standards.
