Simulation: transient deformation calculation
...................................................................................................................................................................................................................................
Simulation is an analysis method for systems which are not suited for a pure theoretical or calculated approach. In addition to the computation and simulation of diverse quasi-statistical problems, transient issues assume an increasingly important role. We benefit above all from 15 years of experience in the selection and use of suitable simulation techniques.
ISATEC is involved in a number of different projects devoted to the evaluation of crash situations. One outstanding example is the safety cockpit developed for the UIM (Union International de Motonautique) Formula 1 racing team. Consisting of a composite of multiple fibre and foam layers, the cockpit is capable of absorbing sufficient kinetic energy generate by a collision and thus of protecting the driver effectively.
ISATEX also supports the Ecurie Aix team at the RWTH Aachen in the conception and crash-data computation for the monocoque of its new vehicle for the Formula Student competition. Tests of crash-induced deformation in system manufacturing, impact with birds in aircraft manufacture and foil packaging resistance round out the range of activities in which ISATEC is involved.
